In this lesson
Enter fractions, mixed numbers and multi-step calculations into a calculator using the correct dedicated keys, and read the calculator display back accurately, including money conventions.
What it covers
- Using a calculator's dedicated fraction key (a b/c or similar) to enter and work with fractions and mixed numbers directly, instead of converting to a decimal by hand first
- Reading a fraction or mixed-number result off the calculator display and writing it correctly in written work
- Accurately transcribing a decimal answer from the calculator display without misreading or swapping digits
- Interpreting a calculator's money-display convention correctly - a calculator drops a trailing zero, so a display of 12.4 after a money calculation means £12.40, not £12.04
- Doing all of the above inside an everyday personal or domestic scenario (recipes, shopping, hobbies), since that framing is itself part of what this video teaches
